Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Autumn in New York

Why does it seem so exciting, inviting
Autumn in New York
It spells the thrill of first-knighting

Shimmering clouds - glimmering crowds, glittering crowds and shimmering clouds
In canyons of steel
They're making me feel - I'm home

It's autumn in New York
That brings the promise of new love
Autumn in New York
Is often mingled with pain

Dreamers with empty hands
All sigh for exotic lands

But it's autumn in New York
It's good to live it again

This autumn in New York
Transforms the slums into Mayfair
Autumn in New York
You'll need no castles in Spain

Lovers that bless the dark
On benches in Central Park

But It's autumn in New York
It's good to live it again

In New York

Dapper Young Fellows

Well Ladies and Gents, as much as I adore images of children and beautiful women, I can be swayed to snag a photo of a handsome gentleman from time to time... And aren't these some fine specimens (hope that doesn't sound too risque)? I included the back from the top hatted man because I thought it was intriguing in its own right ...

Have a pleasant Fall weekend, and enjoy some junking!

P.S. I'll be in NYC with my dear husband Mon 6th-Fri 10th so posts may be infrequent next week... But I'll have lots of eye candy when I return.

P.S.S. Check out The Blessed Nest for photos of a recent blogging friend expedition!

Roaring Twenties

As a button collector, there are certain styles that I am on the hunt for. For example, the elusive Victorian owl button. And the beauty pictured above. She's a garter button from the 1920's (photo courtesy of the British Button Society). There's even an example of this style button with a police officer holding a stop sign - Get it? (Think about where garters are located:))....

In an ode to the 20's and all the fabulousness of flapperdom, I thought I'd share another favorite photo. I adore this shot... It's an actual photo postcard that a dear friend found for me. Can't you just hear the jazz in the background?

Fab Photo #2

Isn't she so cute? This photo postcard also came from Spitalfields at the same little antique store... What's amazing is that BBC Home and Antiques recently posted an article regarding underrated antiques - And old photos were listed! In particular, it mentioned old English store fronts. And what could be a better shop than a chocolatier?

Wouldn't you just love to be this little girl? What wonderful candies she must have sampled! Click on the photo to look at all the special treats in the window...

Sorry it's crooked - Im just learning how to use our scanner so bear with me:)

Fab Photo #1

My husband recently taught me how to use our scanner- Now I can't wait to share my ephemera!
This photo was purchased in London at a little antiques store in the Spitalfields area. I just love the innocence and nostalgia this image brings up.

The Duchess

I am absolutely sick by the fact that I can't go out and see this movie right away! Apparently, only the big cities get it right now (I'm so very jealous)!...
I'm a big fan of historical cinema (both fiction and non-fiction alike). Marie Antoinette, The Count of Monte Cristo, Gone With the Wind... Movies that take one to another place and time. And clothes, sets, and words that are simply divine.
Check out the trailer and movie facts here! I guarantee you will not be disappointed ...
